I was so sorry to hear about Chris.
We were both in the same class throughout our time at Maldon Grammar school. I remember Chris was always one of the brainier pupils with a way with words. We must have been classed as rebels though, as we never achieved prefect level going into the upper 6th, just sub prefects.
As we only lived a few hundred yards apart we would regularly walk to and from school together, chatting and exchanging jokes. In those days we always went home for lunch. We even spent two weeks together, one summer, on a student exchange to Cannes in the South of France.
I clearly remember out last day at school, at the age of 18 yrs , walking away from the school gates together never to meet up again for one of our chats.
As I continued to live in Maldon, I would find myself occasionally walking down Victoria road and looking across at the house he lived in, wondering where Chris was now.
It is with great sadness and regret that I learnt more about Chris and his exploits from the obituaries in the Times and Telegraph than I did since leaving school.
Chris will aways live on in my memory from our time at school together.

Very sad news. Chris was a good friend both in primary and grammar school days. We had spoken on the phone very occasionally over the years but somehow never managed to get together. I do regret that.
Vicki and I send our most sincere condolences to all his family and friends at this time of great sadness.
